Blower won't shut off; Amana gas furnace

QUESTION:

I have an Amana model GUC090b35b forced air gas furnace about 10 years old. When first run this fall heat shuts off but fan runs continuously.
(A/C was working fine) I put the original thermostat back on (had been replaced by programmable) with no effect.
Any suggestions? I did see other references to this problem with other brands but was unsure if they applied. I am homeowner who is somewhat handy but not that familar with furnaces. My trusty home repair manual gave some generic information but nothing that helped me resolve this problem.

ANSWER:

You should check to see how the blower is turned on, is it by time, or temp..The switches look very differant for each. Temp is "usually " much larger, and will protrude back into the furnace ...You willl need to see if the sensing device is openine when gas valve shuts off. If it is not replace it, you will find that you have stuck contacts in side of it...the other poss. is that in changing the stat, you inadvertantly crossed some of the wires. Or you have them shorted together....check the g to r circut.
