American Standard owned by Trane?
QUESTION:I have been planning on purchasing a Trane Central Air
Conditioner. Someone told me the Trane owns American
Standard, another brand of AC units and then went on
to infer that they were of equal quality.
Does Trane own American Standard and does this infer
that they are of similiar quality?
ANSWER: I don't know who owns who, but I do know that Trane is a top brand,
American Standard is a bottom of the line 'no-name' brand, and built
like one.
Actually,American Standard is the name of the company.They own the
Trane name.The equipment is of roughly similar design.By having two brand
names they sell thru different distributors.Carrier does the same thing
with its Bryant,Payne etc. lines.Ruud and Rheem,same
thing,York-Armstrong-Luxaire same thing.Each line has varying price points.
The Trane equipment carries with it a premium price simply because of the
name.
