OT ish Gas boiler maintenance contracts
QUESTION:Moved house, current Gas Boiler is Ferroli Combi 77 FF and it sounds
knackered, it makes a constant electrical noise like the spark
generator is constantly going (plays hell with my Freeview box I can
tell you) and when the Pump starts it sounds like a tumble dryer full
of bricks.
Have been thinking of a British Gas Maintenance Contract
(www.house.co.uk) so someone will have a look at it
It is
150.00 per year or 12.50 per month
Did a quick google search

Main complaint seems to be that the "yearly" maintenance is actually
14-15 months so in any 5 years they only visit 4 times.
Anyone have any comments, or perhaps know of a similar (but cheaper)
scheme in the Gloucestershire area?
ANSWER: Old trick,
Accoridng to the last BG guy, they dont even come out anymore for the yearly
checkup less you contact them,
Phone them every 12 months and then they will come out, not that the annual
check actually does much.
Call out time usually very good, had the chap round last week (leaking pipe
under floorboard) took him 1.5 days for the work (plumbing was put in by a
dodgy plumber!!), and arrived less than 10mins after calling!
Over the last few years, the work done has outstripped to cost of the
contract
