Anyone Hear Of A Boilermate

QUESTION:

I am having a new home built and the builder will be installing a 60 gallon hot water boilermate in place of a regular electric water heater. Can anyone explain the difference?

ANSWER:

i am assuming that you will have a oil or gas fired furnace.
I have heard of using a boiler mate. As far as I know, it is in addition to the hot water boiler. It's purpose is to provide hot water at an even temperature. Without it, the boiler temp will vary 20 degrees. They are good at what they do, but not energy efficient.
