QUESTION:I have a Weil McClain boiler, and the temperature & pressure
release valve is starting to drip. It's a 3/4" valve, with no label on it.
What should I get to replace it? I mean as far as temp. and pressure
ratings. I know a hot water tank one would not be good to use...to high of a
pressure, right?
ANSWER: From your question, I sense you don't know what you're looking at, working on,
or what you're doing.
Things other than valve are probably what is causing this condition. Call a
qualified service person to check your entire system and make sure it's
operating properly. The valve is a safety device that is designed to reduce the
possibility of the boiler vessel failing. If that doesn't make sense, another
way of saying it is exploding.
Do the safe and right thing and pay a professional to give the entire system a
complete check out and tune up.
