QUESTION:I just saw the movie "Boiler Room" with Ben Affleck and a bunch of other
young guys that I recognize but don't know their names. Good movie, better
soundtrack. It started of with quotes from a Biggie song by the main
character, and then had the Rakim "New York" produced by Primo I think. They
had De La Soul, Tribe, Pharaoh Monch, Saukrates, and some dope
instrumentals. I tried looking at Cdnow but found nothing. Anyone else see
this movie and feel the same way?
ANSWER: Yeah, I saw this movie with my boyfriend over at Universal's Cineplex (Disney's
AMC theatres still rock better) and I was amazed at the amount of "good"
Hip-Hop used in the film. The main character, played by Giovanni Ribisi (very
talented, also was in The Mod Squad and The Other Sister), opens with a quote
from B.I.G., which just astounded me. I'm not a real Biggie fan, but still,
the fact that the scriptwriter refered to the line was fresh. Also, any movie
that plays a De La song has got to be something out of the ordinary. I was
naming all the songs I recognized and their artists to my boyfriend, who
probably didn't really care. I heard that the one senior broker, the Italian guy, is also in Pitch Black.
