QUESTION:My wife and I got engaged in Death Valley. We promised we'd return one
day and stay at the Furnace Creek Inn for our anniversary...Has anyone
stayed there before and can recommend it.. I know what the room rates
are but how much can I expect for dining, massage etc...If I have to

ANSWER: I've stayed there with my wife in August '98 for three nights and it was
just perfect. The hotel ist awesome! Sitting on the balcony and
watching the sunset over Death Valley was really wonderful.
We tried the dinner once and it was very enjoyable. The staff is always
friendly, the rooms are very(!) nice, the water always warm (well, in
sommer -> even the COLD water )
I can really recommend a stay. A great and classy hotel in a amazing
surrounding!
Try to get a room in the higher floor ( I Think it was 3rd floor) with
balcony and view to the garden and the Valley! We payed about $160 the
night.
