QUESTION:The size of the intake duct on the furnace is 12" x 12". How do I know
if a filter of that size is big enough? Right now there is a much
larger filter flopping around inside the blower box at the bottom of
the furnace but it is clearly not effective since it is not mounted
properly and has a several inch air gap around it.
ANSWER: if it was me i mite think of geting a 1 in by 1 in by 1 in shannel
broke (made with a sheet met. brake)
ands pop rivit from the in side at a big a angle as i can to make
a 16 by 12 or biger a 12 by 24 would be nice but i bet thatr would
be to steep a angle
i have had the fiolter channel made 2 in deep and usaed 2 in on
the back and cut the sides to 1 in and added 1 in in the
back/bottem laving a slot to remove and install the filter and a
cover toi cover the slot a space gard type filter would be nice and
not nead cleaned varry offen butt the sheet tin banging would be
work for a grean tin banger
butt the space gards com in like 24 by 24 or someing and is like 1/2 a ft theck
and bite run 300$$ but in this app onew time a year or two years
