ANSWER: Derek is right- furnace filter material as compared to pea gravel is about
10 to 1 -10 times as much surface area in filter material as pea stone -
Therefore you need 10 times the amount of pea gravel as furnace filter
material - but the denser- the sooner it plugs up - therefore you have to
analyze your own situation , as to room for filtration,aesthetics (sp?)fish
load to water/plant volume etc- every pond situation is different
