Furnace Filters - What kind, brand?
QUESTION:There are several types of furnace filters to choose from.
I'm just wondering which types of filters play havoc with the furnace.
Some claim to do an excellent job of filtering. But which types do such
a good job of filtering, it restricts the return air for the furnace and
should be avoided?
Everytime I go to Home Depot, there seems to be another type new type of
filter - like the 3M Filtrete - 3 types now...
Then there are the permanent filters you wash out, but seem quite
restrictive.
ANSWER: We have an opening for our furnace/cent. air. the size is 20 X 20
and we got it at home depot, the one we got is $19.00 for a black
plastic frame around a steel mesh, looks like wire, maybe screen wire,
it is an electrostatic one, we just take it in the back yard and hose it
off when it gets dirty, and it does get pretty dirty, so thats a sign
that it filters out the dirt.
