Furnace Humidifier Repair
QUESTION:I was looking at furnace humidifiers on the net and was thinking to myself,
I have all the parts to make one. I have a lot of stuff left over from a
greenhouse I used to have. All I would really need is a solenoid valve,
water supply and a mist nozzle. I'd hook the valve up to the blower fan,
when it comes on the valve would open. Is their be any danger is making my
own system? If the valve failed it would stay close, so I wouldn't have to
worry about a flood. I'm just not sure about hooking it up to the blower
fan.
ANSWER: I have never heard of a humidifier that directly shoots water or mist into
a blower? The devices I have seen have a tank of water and a drum with
sponge like material. The drum is partially below the water line and the
drum rotates keeping the drum wet. Then air blows over or through the drum.
Others may just have a sponge like material and a wicking action keeps the
sponge wet. Air passes over the sponge. May want to visit some AC stores
and ask to look at their humidifiers...
