QUESTION:Just wanted to mention how god damn happy I am that all these furnace
manufacturers cant seem to come up with 1 or 2 or 3 different hot
surface ingniters. Noooooooooooo. Instead we have to have about 50
different ones out there. I especially want to thank Trane for their
evidentially most recent piece of . It looks like the same one
that Lennox uses. Its on a Trane TUX080C942C2 upflow gas 90%.
Porcelain base with a slot cut in it. The igniter is the flat blade
type (silicon nitride probably). I love how they made the slot in the
porcelain base off center and added the raised rib line on the
porcelain so it wont lay flat. Of course they made the molex connector
slightly different too.
ANSWER: Yes I have heard of them and Yes I have one of them in my truck. I
dont like it, thus havent used it yet. A bit expensive and the damn
module is too big in my opinion. Its also a bit strange to tell the
homeowner that they are going to need this new added on module to
their 2 year old furnace. Its going to be in the way no matter where
you mount it and also needs a new igniter. My guess is that igniter
wont last any longer than the rest of the stuff out there. Just one
more igniter to carry except this one will now need a module to carry
with it too. I figure it is for that customer that I get at Midnight
and no matter how hard I try, I just cant "rig" a temporary one in
place. Oh yeah, by the way, its NOT a universal one. Ive already found
several that it wont fit
