QUESTION:I live in small 2 story 1400 sqft house in Toronto Ontario. My
Coolman furnace blower died out and I am getting it replaced. I am
also replacing my 1.5 ton Lennox Central Air Condition as well, it is
working fine, but I think it is cheaper to replace both Furnace and AC
together. I got a quote for both Furnace and Central AC installed for: Keeprite 2 Stage High Efficiency 92% Furnace 75000 BTU for $2600
including GST (model IIS 90) Ameristar (American Standard) 1.5 ton 13 SEER with coil for $1900
include GST 5 Years Parts and Labour Included on both units. Also I can deffer payment for 1 year no cost. All funds are in Canadian dollars, as of August 2007 Please let me know if I am getting a good deal, or I am being ripped
off?
ANSWER: You're getting ripped off by at least $1900, because you're replacing
perfectly good A/C. It should not make a diff to the installer. If he told
you otherwise, get another one. Even if your old A/C is Very low efficiency, in Ontario you'll never recover
the cost of new one, based on savings.
