Furnace Repair San Jose Ca
QUESTION:I am planning the installation of a 151,000 BTU natural gas pool heater. I
have a home with
gas furnace, range and water heater and a 3/4 gas line feeding service at
the meter. Now i live in San Jose CA. I plan to install the
equipment about 50 feet from the meter where pipe sizing charts say I can
use 3/4 inch pipe But....... Is there enough gas with only a 3/4 inch line feeding my meter?
What are the critical factors in determining if I have "the juice" to
consider running a pool heater?
ANSWER: I'm across the way in Santa Clara, and just fiinished putting in all new pool
equipment last Spring. My meter/line was fine (didn't even come up, as I recall),
but checking with PG&E shouldn't be too hard. I've got a 20,000 gallon pool, with spa, and have installed a 400,000 BTU
heater. No problems, to date. Heats the spa from 80-100 in 20 minutes (spa is 6'x9'x3'), and raises the pool from 80-86 in about two hours. Monthly Cost in August for daily use of the spa and two heats of the pool (during that cooler weather we had in August) was around $35 (don't have
the bill in front of me); this number also includes all hot water for the house
for the month (two adults & two younger children, at least a couple of loads
of laundry per day), so actual pool/spa heating cost was lower.
