QUESTION:I still have an old gas furnace which is working fine right now. The
chimney, however, is starting to rust at the very top. I think that I
can remove the top section but I am not sure that I can get an exact
replacement. The house is 22 years old. Does anyone know if the current
chimney sections sold in most hardware/lumber stores will fit on the
existing chimney? Have the designs changed so that I have to buy a
complete new chimney?
ANSWER: Don't mess with a chimney. Get a professional to look at it because if you do
something wrong, you could cause a CO poisioning incident in your home.
