Gas Furnace Problem

QUESTION:

First timer here with a question concerning my gas furnace, first I'll give you all some background on my system, then the problem that previously occurred and remedy, and finally the possible problem that I see as of now.
System : Lennox Forced Hot Air Natural Gas Fired Furnace Model # G16Q4-100-1 Serial # 5884G01327
The above furnace along with a Lennox central air conditioning system consisting of a condensing unit and evaporator coil was installed new in October 1984. This complete system ran flawless until January 2000 when the electronic ignition would take a while before finally lighting the pilot, to then allow the main burner to come on. The pilot and main burner would eventually light, but I did call for a repairman to come diagnose and repair the condition. He's remedy was,
Remedy : Installed a Honeywell Intermittent Pilot Retrofit Kit
(Y8610F,H)
The above kit includes an intermittent pilot module with wiring harness, gas control valve, igniter - sensor assembly, ignition cables, and mounting hardware. A photo can be viewed on the web at

After the above repairs, my system ran flawless as far as I'm aware of until this month (November 2001). What I've noticed is that early in the morning when my furnace comes on at about 4 am, 5 am, 6 am, (my furnace is set back at 11 pm to 67 degrees, then at 5 am brought back up to 69 degrees for the day )my furnace will come on without any problems, warm the house up quite nicely, but when the house is warm the main burner will shut down for a split second and the pilot will light it back up. This will happen several times over a period of several minutes, then eventually the main burner will shut down and the heat exchanger will cool down and shut the circulating fan off. During the day and evening my furnace works normally, by that I mean it fires up, warms the house up, and shuts down, without all the on and off stuff of the main burner.
This on and off of the pilot and main burner only between 4 am and 6 am doesn't sound normal to me. Although I'm only a Machinist and not an HVAC Technician. Possibly someone in this forum may understand this and have an opinion or suggestion on the problem and a possible solution. Currently I feel a bit silly when I explain this to the guys in the shop that this only happens early in the mornings.

ANSWER:

Well, looking at the picture, the ignition control module needs to be ether mounted some where else or mounted on a plate that moves it out away from the back of the furnace where it in now mounted. The module is getting to hot and could be shutting down. That would be the first thing I would do before looking at anything else.
