QUESTION:Well, the old gas furnace is dying and needs replacement. I know
there has been a lot of discussion in the past on the different models
and makes of the newer gas furnaces but I didn't save them, typical. So my question is: Does anybody have a comparison chart of the different brands and models
for furnaces with 80% or above effeciency? If you do could you please
email me a copy,
ANSWER: You may want to contact the HVAC indusrty publications. The best source
would be Contracting Business Magazine, this mag is distributed FREE to
HVAC contractors and you could ask your contractor to supply you with
their annual furnace comparison issue. It rates all of the major brand
names and highlights the various features and efficiencies. You can try to contact them yourself but they may not respond if you
are not a HVAC contractor. They are located at 1100 Superior Ave, Clevland,
OH. 44115-2543. Ph is 216-696-7000. In Canada there are a couple of publications but none that go into the
depth that CB does. From personal experience what is more important than the brand name
is the contractor. I have been in the HVAC industry as a consultant
for the past 10 years. The best piece of equipment will be the biggest
headache if improperly installed. You need to find a contractor that
will install the most suitable piece of equipment in a professional
manner. If you e-mail me direct I can give you some names of contractors,
probably some in your area, who can design a system to suit
your needs.
