Gas Furnace Repair Manual

QUESTION:

I have a Lennox G24M propane furnace whose circuit board has apparently failed. No power is getting to the blower motor. While I wait for a new circuit board to come in I was wondering if there was some way to hook up a temporary switch to the blower motor and to operate it with direct power. So that heat can circulate in the house. The propane is lighting just fine though the furnace shuts off after a while due to it getting overheated (with no blower moving the air around).
The blower motor has 4 wires coming into it. One Red (CONT), Yellow
(HEAT), Black (COOL), and White (COM). I am thinking that I can hook up the house wiring White wire to the Yellow (HEAT) and the house Black wire to the White (COM) wires coming into the blower moter. Does this sound about right?
Also is there any downside to having the blower moter running continously as oppossed to having it turn on when the furnace initiates to turn it on under normal circumstances?

ANSWER:

I totally recommend that you find someone that knows how to wire electricity if you dont know how to do it yourself. Electricity can kill. That being said, You might want to try the following: How about hooking up the house white wire to the white (COM) of the blower. Then hook up the house black wire to the Yellow (Heat) or any other speed you wish. Disconnect all the other motor leads and tape them off. Your system may then work but one just never knows. Running your blower 24/7 will not hurt it one bit. Its the same as switching your thermostat from FAN (auto) to FAN (ON).
