QUESTION:My 7 year old outdoor Goodman Gas furnace/Ac died 2 weeks ago.
First the igniter died and I had that replaced. A week later I started
getting a "blowback" from the gas where 1 of the 3 fires wouldn't fully be
blown into the heat exchange. The blowback licks off a safety switch that
shuts off the unit. My contractor has tried on and off for 2 weeks to fix
the problem. He called Goodman and their suggestion was to replace the heat
exchanger. Did that yesterday. Still no luck. Fans running, other appliances OK, pressure he says is OK, swapped the jets
around and the ok one won't work on the bad one. I don't know much about
HVAC but am starting to learn.
ANSWER: Sounds like you need the new burner replacement Kit furnished free by
Goodman for when the burner will not burn correctly. The Goodman
Support team did not know of the burner problem , so just tell your
Janitrol / goodman warehouse man to order a burner replacement Kit Part # 40227-01S . The goodman warehouse man will have in his computor a
Burner replacement kit # 40227-01S which is free and is for replacement
of defective burn sets install on most all Goodman furnaces back until
the did not have vent fans. This is for all GMP models. This is not a
problem or a recall yet for no one has filed a suite yet.
