Hydro Flame Furnace Repair
QUESTION:I have a hydro flame furnace in which the exhaust vent (pipe) has
become badly rusted. It has begun to break up at the outside. Advice
thus far is that I will need to replace the entire furnace. I find it
difficult to believe that these units have been built in a way that
one cannot separately replace just the exhaust tube.
Anyone have an occassion to perform this task? Is it do-able?
ANSWER: If you're talking about the exhaust tube "sleeve" that is attached to
the vent assembly then it is replacable. If you are talking about the
inner tube, then it is not. The inner tube is welded to the
combustion chamber and is not replacable. If the inner tube isn't to
far gone, the exhaust vent assemblies come in a couple different
lengths and replacing with a longer one may give you enoug overlap for
safe operation.
