QUESTION:I have a real pesky Lochinvar boiler that ignites every time you try it.
But each morning, it is in alarm and not firing. You reset it and it lights
and continues to light during the day. We've checked the air flow, and the
HSI and it still does this.
ANSWER: ow did you check the HSI? Did you replace it with a new one, did you check
it with an Ohm meter, or did you just watch it glow? Does the system have a proper ground? How does it sense the flame, through the HSI? By resetting it you are turning the power on and off to reset the ignition
control? If the ignition control was locked out then either it was not
sensing flame or the ignition control is faulty. If it senses flame through the HSI instead of a flame rod, maybe the hsi is
getting coated with an oxide. Rheem had a problem with that and they finally
put in remote flame sensors. Either camp out in the boiler room as previously suggested or revert to part
changer mode. Try a new ignition control if you already changed the HSI
