Nordyne Furnace

QUESTION:

It's been about 1 year since the last thread on Nordyne. So, how are the standing. I was at a local home show and saw that the Frigidaire was using the same Tubular heat exchanger design that Rheem was using. Also noted that Rheem & Frigidare were using Nordyne's Scroll Compressor in the AC. I thought Rheem was supposed to make very good equipment, so this reflected well on the Frigidaire. (This was just my humble opinion as a perspective customer- please set me straight.)
How's part availablity been for the Nordyne product? Also, I understand that Nordyne is now making a one-piece Variable-Speed
(DC, not VFD) upgrade/kit. My local dealer priced it out at $580.00, and said if anything goes wrong they just slip the whole thing out and install a new one. Anyone have experiaence with this yet?

ANSWER:

The Frigidaire would be the last hvac system i would buy and Rheem is one of the top hvac system i would buy. Just because Frigidaire sleeps with Rheem does not make it a top of the line system.
Now the 10 seer models come with Piston compressor and even some 12 seer have piston compressors. They advertise Scroll compressor in their units but leaves out what models. You only find Scroll in the top of the line models.
Now i have come down on them but they work and run with very little trouble like them all. My thoughts is they are cheaply made and very noisey on furnaces . they sound like a jet when the furnace blower comes on. I had a fellow who work part time with me bought one and after a month , he and his wife could not take it. He had to give it back to them and get a replacement in a Ruud line for the warehouse sold Ruud and Frigidaire.
Give them some more time to Quiet that blower down and get straight on Scroll comes in all or just some.
