QUESTION:I rent and they are coming Monday to maintenance my furnace and i have no oil is that ok?
ANSWER: When you are renting, you are obligated to maintain the property or you will have to pay for repairs associated with your neglect. While the season is still warm enough to not worry about freezing (depending on where you are), the landlord may still consider it neglectfull of his furnace if you don't at least maintain enough oil in it to start it like normal instead of having to bleed air out of the fuel lines etc. If you ran the furnace until it could not run any longer due to an empty fuel tank... then yes, I would say you might have some issues from the landlord come monday. Not big issues but you can expect him to tell you to never let the fuel run completely out. If you plan on not buying more fuel then you must shut the system off BEFORE it runs out. It is almost impossible to do maintenance on a furnace that won't even turn on! If it were me in your situation, I would try to get a minimal amount of fuel in that tank and fire up the system today if at all possible. I would think you could get a five gallon can and get fuel oil somewhere.
