Residential Boiler

QUESTION:

How does a residential boiler work, and can it be connected to a water heater?

ANSWER:

it starts at the boiler. the boiler heats up water, then the hot water is pumped to base board heaters, radiators, or infloor heat. the water is on a loop system that allows the cool water to return the the boiler. there are often differnt zones in a hot water heat system, which allow differnt temps or more even heating though out the house. along with the boiler there is also a bladder tank located in the system. this allose the system to keep a consent pressure. there is usually a automatic make up water. this works by letting water in from the city/well water. it is set to a certian pressure to tell when to let water in.
yes it possable, its done in my house They are usually a fire tube boiler and they have very close tolerences. The system is closed so I would not recomend hooking it to a water heater. The TDS and PH are very critical becuase to low or to high of ph cuases acidic or alkinity conditions that reduce the life of the boiler.
