QUESTION:I have a new Rheem gas furnace that sometimes ignites on the first attempt.
However, there are numerous times when it has to attempt a second time for
the
ignition to occur. On occasion, it does not ignite on the second attempt and
then runs through the heating cycle blowing cold air. It was looked at once and a cut vacuum line was found. However, that did not
solve the problem and the installer does not believe it to be an issue and
does not want to come back out. Is this type of behavior typical for a new furnace?
ANSWER: I just got a new Rheem high-efficiency, condensing gas furnace(1X2000) two
months ago. On page 44 of the Installation Manual, there is a description of
sequence of operations for normal startup and for the case where the system
doesn't light or doesn't sense the flame. If you don't have the manual, try
getting it from the installer.
