Furnace filter advice please
QUESTION:As some of you may know from my previous post, our electronic air cleaner
died.......and we must make some sort of replacement......What's the
consensus on the Space Guard Furnace Filter (change the filter once per
year)? Or, should we spend the additional $150-$200 and have another
electronic installed?
ANSWER: My vote would go to the SpaceGard. When I worked for a residential HVAC
contractor we installed many more SpaceGards than electronics. Never had a
complaint on the SpaceGards ... except for the replacement filter cost. On the
other hand, the electronics would "generate" service calls because the owners
weren't sure if they were working or not.
I also find it attractive to avoid using electricity when I can.
