"The WEB" furnace filter?
QUESTION:I installed a passive, permanent electrostatic furnace filter called "Web
Plus".
The thing is several layers of foam in a plastic frame and is supposed to be
rinsed clean monthly and reinstalled. The filter has been in use over six months with both heating and cooling
use. For cooling, I generally use a continuous fan setting, so the filter
has definitely had plenty of air pulled through it. The problem (if it is one) is that the filter has never gotten dusty or
dirty. The rinse water is always perfectly clean and there is never any
visible dust, lint, or hair on the external surface of the filter, totally
contrary to my experience with both disposable pleated filters and powered
electrostatics. A friend bought the same brand and his has remained clean
as well. Anybody have any comments about what is going on here?
ANSWER: Sounds like you need to get bigger dust for the filter to catch or get a better
filter to catch the dust you have. I think you answered your own question when
you mentioned the pleated filter.
I have the regular WEB filter, not the plus version. Mine certainly
picks up allot of dust and is really dirty when I wash it. Are you sure you only have one return?
